NorthernlighT

northernlight1It was at the Abbaye aux Dames in Saintes, an important centre for early music in Europe that a group of young musicians, whilst students of the Jeune Orchestre Atlantique came together for the first time to play one of the great monuments of chamber music, the octet in F major of Franz Schubert.
From this meeting, the Edding Quartet was first created, then shortly afterwards, Northenlight ensemble was founded to interpret the major works for winds and strings from the classical and romantic eras.
Since its creation in 2008, NorthernlighT have included in their repertoire many works other than the Schubert, the quintets of Mozart and Brahms for clarinet, the septets of Beethoven and Berwald, as well as works by Adolf Blanc and Louis Spohr.
Today, this ensemble combines a quartet of international renown, and wind players among the best of their generation, and is invited to many festivals and to well known concert halls throughout Europe.
In January 2014, NothernlighT brought together 10 years of experience together by recording the Octet D.803 of Francz Schubert, released in september 2014 for the label Fuga Libera ( Outhere music)
