2nd Violin : Caroline Bayet
Born in 1979 in Belgium, Caroline Bayet studied violin at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, commencing in the class of Adam Kornischewsky, and continuing under the guidance of Liviu Prunaru and Joshua Epstein. Attracted to the practice of period instrument performance, Caroline undertook further studies with Patrick Cohen Akenine on baroque violin, leading to her participation in the Jeune Orchestre Atlantique. During this time she founded the string quartet Thais, performing as first violinist from 2002 to 2008. The quartet has recorded several CDs including the complete quartets of AEM Gretry for the label Ficta Musica, highly acclaimed by critics upon its release in 2005. In 2008 Caroline joined the Edding quartet.
A regular performer with Philippe Herreweghe's ensemble Collegium Vocale Gent since 2004, Caroline has also been playing with the French ensemble "Le Banquet Celeste", directed by Damien Guillon, since 2009. She is concertmaster of Bach Concentus directed by Ewald Demeyere Consentus, as well as the ensemble Alba Splendens directed by Philippe Riga. Caroline is frequently invited by other leading period instrument ensembles such as: Les Agremens, Le Concert d'Astree, L'Ensemble Baroque de Limoges, Il Gardellino, Vox Luminis, Les Muffatti, B'Rock, Les Talents Lyric and Le Cercle de l'Harmonie.
